Nobody we can cite has published a measured PIXEL-per-hour figure for either a free Pixels farmer or a VIP one, so the useful number is the one you have to beat. PIXEL closed at about $0.00706 according to Phemex Academy in early October 2026. Pixels VIP costs roughly $10 a month, paid in PIXEL. At that price, VIP costs about 1,400 PIXEL a month, or about 47 PIXEL a day.
A VIP player who earns less than that is paying to play. A player on two hours a day needs about 24 PIXEL an hour, roughly 17 cents, to reach zero. Treat any listicle quoting dollars per hour without a date, a token price and a source as noise. Nothing on this page was tested by us. Every figure names who measured it.
Two currencies, and only one leaves
Farming, crafting and most task-board work pay out in an off-chain in-game currency. GAMES.GG described it as non-transferable. It buys things inside Pixels and nothing outside it. PIXEL is the on-chain token. It is what you can move to a wallet and sell, and it is also what the game charges you for VIP, pets and guild charters. The token you earn is the same token the game invoices you in, so the question is always net PIXEL, not gross.
The studio tunes the inflow hard. Chapter 2.5 cut daily coin inflation by about 84%, per EGamers.io. A rate you read about before a chapter change describes a different game.
Gas is not your problem during play. Pixels sponsors every in-game action, including harvesting, crafting and claiming rewards, through Ronin's protocol-level sponsorship. Sky Mavis's docs describe how studios allowlist the contract functions they pay for.
Free, VIP, landowner
Free. You get the base game, the base task board and the off-chain currency. Whether a free account can move PIXEL to a Ronin wallet at all is the first thing to confirm on Pixels' help desk. The VIP perk list we have does not settle it, and the answer decides whether free play pays anything.
VIP (about $10 a month). VIP adds 3 extra task-board tasks plus VIP-exclusive ones, 1,000 instant energy every 12 hours from the VIP Lounge, 6 backpack slots and 10 extra marketplace listing slots. The task and energy perks are the ones that turn into PIXEL. The rest is convenience. Higher tiers cost more PIXEL, which moves your break-even up.
Land. This is a capital purchase, not a subscription. Farmland had a floor of 1.39 ETH, about $5,400, on May 23, 2024, per BlockchainGamer.biz. The same report quoted a landowner in the Philippines earning about $11 a day in commissions from tenants farming his plot. That was one owner, in a 2024 market, when PIXEL was worth far more than it is now. It is an anecdote, not a rate.
What getting it out costs
Gas. An unsponsored Ronin transaction cost about 0.01 RON, around $0.02, when Sky Mavis ended free gas in October 2024. With RON at $0.06618 in CoinMarketCap's September 2026 roundup, the same 0.01 RON is under a tenth of a cent. New wallets also got five free sponsored transactions. Gas will not decide whether a session was worth it.
Withdrawal fee or cooldown. Pixels charges a Farmer Fee on withdrawals, and it scales with reputation. Phemex Academy puts it at 29% to 49% for accounts with 1,500 to 4,999 reputation points, falling to 5% to 6% at 40,000 or more. You need a reputation score of at least 2,000 to withdraw at all. The fees go back to stakers. None of our sources document a cooldown. Check the in-game withdrawal screen before you count on a number.
Selling. Turning PIXEL into dollars means a swap. Our only benchmark is a general Layer-2 range of $0.10 to $0.50 per swap for Q1 2026, and it is not Ronin-specific. On a $5 withdrawal, even the low end takes 2%.
Ronin Market applies only if you sell an NFT, such as land or a pet. Sky Mavis documents a 2% platform fee, a 0.5% treasury fee and a creator royalty of up to about 10%. Its worked example has a $100 sale netting $87.50. Other 2026 reporting says the treasury fee has since risen to 1.25%.
One dated warning. Ronin's move from Waypoint to Ronin Stash had a completion deadline of September 30, 2026, which has now passed. Expect lookalike "migration" sites to keep circulating anyway. Only follow links from Ronin's own channels, and read up on setting up a wallet safely before you sign anything.
Who else is farming
Player counts depend on who is counting:
- About 1 million daily users. This is the developer's own claim, repeated in August 2026 coverage. We have not seen it verified.
- More than 115,000 daily active unique wallets. GAMES.GG reported this in a piece last updated in December 2025. CEO Luke Barwikowski said about 40% of active wallets were bots.
- 779,000 unique active wallets on May 20, 2024. An outside studio CEO estimated at the time that about 70% of accounts were bots. Pixels banned 750,000 accounts in a single week.
DappRadar, which used to publish these counts, shut down on 17 November 2025, and its per-game numbers have no free replacement we could confirm. To check the studio's claim yourself, watch the trend on DefiLlama's Ronin page, which shows active addresses and transactions for the whole Ronin chain, and compare it with what the studio says. It is chain-level, not Pixels-only, so use it for direction, not as a head count. Bots matter to your pay because rewards are a shared pool.
The studio does ship. It moved from Polygon to Ronin in February 2024 and has released Chapter 2 (June 17, 2024), Chapter 2.5 and Chapter 3, Bountyfall, which added factions competing for PIXEL prize pools. The token has not held up. It closed at $0.007056 in early October 2026 (Phemex Academy), about 99.3% below its $1.02 high, and only about 771 million of its 5 billion supply circulates, so more dilution is scheduled.

What it is not
| Easy to mistake for pay | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| A big off-chain coin balance | Spending money for inside the game. Only PIXEL leaves. |
| Wallet counts | An upper bound on players. The CEO's own bot share is about 40%. |
| Free gas | The studio's operating cost. It does not add to your earnings. |
Before you log another session
Track one week of PIXEL actually received, not off-chain currency. Divide by hours played and multiply by that day's price.
- If you are on VIP: you need more than about 47 PIXEL a day at early October 2026 prices (Phemex Academy) just to cover the pass. Recalculate whenever the price moves, because the dollar cost of VIP is fixed (BingX Learn) and your PIXEL income is not.
- If your net is a few cents an hour: that is the honest figure for most accounts. It means Pixels is a farming game you enjoy, not a job. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you know which one you are playing.
